ABS Sheets — Tough, Lightweight & Easy to Machine

ABS Sheets — Tough, Lightweight & Easy to Machine

ABS sheet is a tough, lightweight thermoplastic known for its excellent impact resistance, stiffness and easy machinability. ABS is widely used for enclosures, automotive parts, display components, housings and fabricated parts thanks to its smooth finish and uniform surface. It performs extremely well for CNC cutting, machining, bending and thermoforming, making it one of the most versatile sheets for industrial and commercial applications.

Together, ABS and styrene cover a broad range of indoor applications from industrial components to retail fixtures and vacuum-formed packaging. ABS provides higher impact and toughness, while styrene offers economical performance for lighter-duty parts.

PolyDX Plastic supplies both ABS and styrene sheets in multiple thicknesses and can cut and fabricate parts to your drawings. Request a Quote to discuss ABS or styrene for your next project.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)

Features

  • ABS: high impact resistance and toughness.
  • Styrene: economical and easy to thermoform.
  • Good stiffness and dimensional stability (ABS and styrene).
  • Excellent for vacuum forming and thermoforming.
  • Good machinability with standard tools.
  • Available in various colours and textures (ABS).

Applications

  • Equipment housings and covers (ABS).
  • Panels, guards and interior components.
  • Point-of-purchase (POP) displays (styrene and ABS).
  • Vacuum-formed trays, inserts and packaging (styrene).
  • Automotive and appliance components (ABS).
  • Fixture components and structural display parts.

Regulatory

ABS and styrene sheets are intended primarily for indoor industrial, commercial and display applications. Typical considerations include:

  • Flammability ratings that vary by grade and thickness.
  • Recommended mainly for indoor use (limited UV resistance).
  • Specialty grades may meet specific industry standards.

For applications with particular regulatory requirements, please contact PolyDX Plastic to review the most suitable ABS or styrene grade.

Physical Properties

  • Appearance: opaque (various colours available for ABS; white or natural for styrene).
  • ABS: high impact resistance and toughness.
  • Styrene: good stiffness and formability.
  • Good dimensional stability for formed and machined parts.
  • Suitable for vacuum forming and machining with standard tools.

Exact values depend on the specific grade and manufacturer. Contact PolyDX Plastic for detailed technical data when needed.

Standard Sizes

  • Common sheet size: 48″ × 96″ (other formats may be available).
  • Typical thickness range: approx. 0.060″ to 0.250″ for styrene; ABS available in a wider range.
  • ABS and styrene sheets can be cut to size on request.

PolyDX Plastic offers cut-to-size services and value-added fabrication such as routing, drilling and forming for ABS and styrene sheets.
